"Peggy Sue" is a rock and roll song written by Jerry Allison and Norman Petty, and recorded and released as a single by Buddy Holly in early July of The Crickets are not mentioned on label of the single (Coral ), [1] but band members Joe B. Mauldin (string bass) and Jerry Allison (drums) played on the recording. [2].

This early Buddy Holly hits collection will please vinyl fans in search of the bespeckled one's late-'50s hits. Including perennials like "That'll Be the Day," "Oh Boy," "It's So Easy," and "Peggy Sue," the album also features fine covers of "Brown Eyed Handsome Man" and "Bo Diddley," not to mention lushly orchestrated stunners such as "Raining in My Heart," "True Love Ways," and the Paul Anka.

The addition of Marshall Crenshaw's version of "Peggy Sue" between Buddy Holly's title tune and the first score track ("Blood Drive") would have made for a smoother transition and retained the continuity of the film as well; the spooky "Blood Drive" feels especially out of place following Holly /5(9).
